Amid the delicately frosted holiday cookies, sumptuous, gooey fudge and numerous other treats that are undoubtedly making their fatty deposits directly on my ass, I absolutely cringe when I come across lame verbatim quotes from jackasses like Kate Moss.
When an interviewer recently inquired about her personal mottos, Moss replied, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." This macabre little snippet made it's way into Time Magazine's pop culture mainstream where women of all ages will no doubt read it and become inspired by their fashion magazine heroine. What's less known is that Moss has her fair share of Photoshop fix-ups and cocaine binges that aid her skinny-bitch figure. Did Time Magazine publish the crack-pot quote in an attempt help us realize her severely misguided mindset?
Given her scandal-ridden past in these areas, I'm curious why Moss didn't simply promote diet and exercise. Oh yeah, because she doesn't eat. Or work out. Of course. Well here's hoping women know better than to subscribe to such unrealistic nonsense and that the advice of celebrity figures is taken with the proverbial grain of salt. I'm annoyed by celebrity fuckwits who don't realize the impact of their dimwit statements on real people, specifically young girls and women who are inspired by the glamorized photos of models like Moss who is clearly an unfit authority on eating habits.
And in case you're wondering, The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness reported a staggering 70 million individuals are affected by eating disorders worldwide, with 24 million being American. Chew on that next time you pick up an issue of Vogue.
Don't get me wrong, I love Vogue and all things fashion much like anyone else. It's just good to understand what's realistically attainable and what's fabricated in an effort to inflate American consumerism.
Sorry to rant, Dear readers. I'm bitching because I love you.
