Incredibly so, 50 years have already passed since Motown's humble beginnings in Detroit, MI.
I still occasionally crank up the Four Tops, the Supremes, the Temptations, Smoky Robinson and the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, the O'Jays, Tammy Terrell and Mary Wells for Summer BBQs and just hangin' out with the family.
More often than not, I can hear familiar riffs and remnants of beats and melodies that originated in Hitsville on current songs that are played on the radio. In the moments that I can recognize a tune, it always makes me so thankful for all of the amazing artists, musicians and other creatives from Motown that encapsulate such an amazing piece of history that also became a catalyst for so many prominent social changes.
Happy Birthday to you, Motown. Your music and talent will remain relevant for many, many years to come!
