Weekday Inspiration: Trees

Hey there, dear readers, how is your summer coming along?

Mine is speeding right past... as it is with most every other part of my life. I sometimes think that working moms have it the worst. We're rushing to get up, get out the door, get the kids fed, get our work done, rush home, hurry to cook dinner, get the kids to bed, clean the house, then pass out from exhaustion. That's why it's so super important to schedule time with yourself, for yourself. No one else is gonna help you out with that.

Today I'm taking some time out to drink in one of my all time favorite poems and wallow in its slow paced serenity. Here's hoping you take a moment out of your hectic day to let it flow right through you too.

TREES, by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
